Strategic Business Planning

We are not all planners and we do not all need a plan.

We are not all planners and we do not all need a plan.

Often business owners and entrepreneurs are focused on their businesses as opposed to writing and following plans.

I get that. We get caught up and things are going well.

So I ask, what are you working towards? What’s your goal? What are the business goals you are focused on achieving?

What process or structure do you have in place to force you to put your head up every month and look at where you are going?  Where have you come from and what do you need to do next?

How do you know what your next steps are?

Why do you need a business strategy plan? What value does a strategic business plan provide?

Essentially you need a business plan so you have a very clear direction on where you are going and why.

Business can be very distracting with loads of fund shiny new things to take our focus away from what we are trying to achieve. Also as your business grows and more people join your team do they know what the goal is? Do they know what they are working towards?

Customised Marketing Strategy
A strategic business plan provides clarity around goals whether they are short term or long term as well as what is the end result for your business.

A strategic business plan identifies and creates a path to achievable and sustainable business success.

Plans don’t need to be about getting finance or pleasing investors; they are most valuable when they are used as a road map for success.

Brand and Identity Development

How can I help you with your strategic business plan?

That’s the easy part. In consultation with you I will create a strategic business plan for your business, your team with an aim and path to achieve your goals and grow your business in a sustainable way.
The elements I include in a strategic business plan are as follows:

  • A one page plan. Step one is always what do you want your business to be in 12 months and 5 years. What does it look like, what does it make and where are you?

From there we do a deep dive in order to put the steps together to get to the one page plan. Starting with a bigger picture and bringing it back step by step.

  • Create a vision and mission statement to articulate the purpose and values of the business, providing a framework for decision making.
  • Conducting a comprehensive analysis of the business’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) enables businesses to identify internal capabilities and external factors that may impact the success.
  • Establishing specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals provides clarity and focus, guiding the actions of the business towards desired outcomes outlined in the one page plan.
  • Developing a strategy involves identifying what needs to be done to achieve the goals. This may include market expansion, product diversification, or operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Then we look to translate the strategy into action with an execution plan that outlines specific tasks, responsibilities, and timelines. Effective execution is essential for realising strategic goals and driving tangible results to achieve what you want.

This is no about a word count, or a box checking exercise.

This process is about laying the foundation for business growth.

Being a business owner / entrepreneur can get hectic and often business growth is the focus on acquisitions, new products and expansion. While that is all happening the base business needs to run profitably and sustainably.
